Hamburger, Beans, and Biscuits
1 lb. hamburger
1 (16 oz.) can pork and beans
2 T. brown sugar
1 t. salt
¾ c barbecue sauce (we like ketchup)
1 T. onion, chopped
1 can buttermilk biscuits – see recipe for Snowball biscuits
1 cup shredded cheese – we never use this
Brown hamburger, Add pork and beans, sugar, salt, bbq sauce and onion
Cook until bubbly, then pour into casserole.
We never do this part:
Cut biscuits in halves. Place on top of hamburger mixture and sprinkle with cheese.
Bake at 3750 for 25 to 30 minutes
2 c. flour
2 t. baking powder
½ t. salt
2 t. sugar
½ c butter
2/3 c. milk
Stir flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder together. Cut in butter. Add milk gradually until soft sough is formed. Knead in bowl. Pinch off pieces as large as an egg for nice country style biscuits. Put on baking sheet, making sure they do not touch. Bake 3500 about 20 minutes.
My brothers all really like this meal, I think. We got it from our church’s cookbook from like, a decade ago. So, credit for this meal must be given to our former Pastor’s wife, and another lady from church. I forget who, and the recipe is upstairs and I’m downstairs. We like to crumble the biscuits up on our plates and pour the hamburger and beans mixture over it like gravy.
